NFT Maker plugin - Introduction

Modified on Thu, 06 Oct 2022 at 01:10 PM

The Tatum NFT Maker plugin in WordPress works with Tatum's Smart Contract for Minting NFTs. Future improvements include allowing the use of your own Smart Contract.

Requirements

  • WordPress
  • WooCommerce plugin
  • Mainnet minting requires you you buy a Paid Mainnet API key (only NFTs minted in the Mainnet have "value")

You can cancel a paid plan at any time. However, Tatum DOES NOT offer refunds for received payments.

IPFS Storage - Free

With native IPFS integration, you can store your images, videos, audio files, or whatever other metadata you’d like to include in your NFT at no cost. Like the NFTs themselves, files stored on IPFS cannot be tampered with or changed, so your NFT will always be connected to their original metadata.

How the minting works

NFTs are minted via "Lazy Minting". Meaning, the mint only happens when someone buys it. This means that you, the seller, don’t have to pay any upfront gas fees to mint your NFTs. Gas fees are only paid once the NFT is purchased and then minted on the blockchain.

Good to know

  • Due to ETH's high cost in Gas fees, attempting to mint NFTs on ETH is unlikely to work unless you have an Enterprise paid plan. You can still try, but it will likely fail with an error like: [Error cause: an error occurred]
  • When minting NFTs on the Mainnet, Gas fees will be deduced as "Tatum API key credits" considering the current gas price applicable on the selected blockchain.
